"Birth at Home" are two independent midwives, Andrea Mason and Eleanor Peck, based in Bedfordshire who offer their services to mothers-to-be. We appreciate that a women's birth experience belongs to her for the rest of her life. It is with that in mind that we undertake our role. From booking to up to 28 days following birth, we will endeavour to provide holistic midwifery care based upon individual needs and choices. We birth in the home as we believe this facilitates active and gentle birth without unnecessary intervention.

We are experienced in home water births (and Eleanor has born her three children this way) and VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean section). We are very supportive when a father wishes to be involved in his child's birth.

We are both registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and are members of the Independent Midwives Association.

Eleanor: I've been a midwife since 1992 and still enjoy the day-to-day challenges of working with pregnant women and their families. It's a role that I find completely absorbing and technically fascinating. I hope my enthusiasm is infectious and that your pregnancy and birth experiences are as fulfilling as we can make them.

Andrea: My goal is to empower women to make informed choices about their pregnancy and to own their birthing experience. I passionately believe in a woman's innate ability to birth her own baby.

Watch us on the BBC! Watch us on the BBC!
"Do you have the best job in the world???" The BBC asked. "Of course I do", I thought, so I Emailed them to tell them so.....The next thing I know I'm on telly! I had no idea how many people would see.......What on earth were you all doing up??? If you missed it..... feel free to have a watch and see Eleanor in the flesh (sort off!). You can view our part of the programme on the BBC News web site, by clicking here.

(Incidentally, you know that telly adds about 5 stone to you - in real life I look like Kate Moss - honest!)........enjoy!

(You'll need Real Player on your computer to watch the clip)
